Plastic Swaps at Home - Bathroom edition

My plastic-free journey began at home. In the kitchen actually, with plastic-wrap being the first thing I stopped using. The bathroom is another great room to make great plastic-free swaps. Here are a few of my go-tos:

  • Safety Razor - a metal handle and replaceable (and recyclable) stainless steel blades make this a great swap for your usual plastic disposable razor. Take it easy though, they do take a bit of getting used to and are kinda sharp!

  • Shampoo and Conditioner Bars - These bars from Honua Bars are the bomb! pH balanced, soap-free and made in Australia, they lather deliciously, and 1 bar saves 3 plastic bottles.

  • Facial Cleansing Bars - Don't mistake these for soap, the Ethique cleanser bars come in a range for various skin types and are non-drying. All packaging is home compostable too!

  • Bamboo Toothbrush - The bristles need to be removed after use but bamboo handles are compostable. (Although if not kept dry, I do find the handles can gather mould quickly).

Other swaps include homemade or plastic-free cleaning solutions, DIY coffee scrub, or coconut oil hair treatments.

What bathroom swaps have you made, or know of, to reduce your plastic waste? Reach out via email or socials to continue the conversation!
